Cookie Policy

This policy explains how srjinternational.co.uk uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can control them. When you first visit, a short notice explains what we measure, and the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page lets you change your choices at any time.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. Similar technologies (such as your browser’s local storage, or a script that sends information about your visit back to us) work the same way. We use them to remember your choices and to understand how the Site is used so we can improve it.

2. The categories we use

• Strictly required: needed for the Site to work and to remember your cookie choices. These cannot be switched off. We store your choices in your browser’s local storage rather than in a tracking cookie.
• Analytics (on unless you switch it off): measures how the Site is used so we can improve it, for example which pages are read, how far people scroll, which buttons are clicked and where visitors came from. UK law (the statistical purposes exception in the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations) allows this without asking first, provided we explain it here and give you a simple way to object. We only look at the results as totals, and none of it is used for advertising.
• Performance (off unless you accept it): Microsoft Clarity heatmaps and session replays of how a visit went, and a second Google Analytics account. These only run if you choose “Accept all” or switch Performance on in Cookie settings.

We do not use advertising or marketing cookies on this Site.

3. The cookies on this Site

• sj-cookie-consent (local storage, strictly required), remembers your cookie choices so the notice does not reappear.
• _ga / _ga_* (Google Analytics, analytics), distinguish visits so Google Analytics can count visits, pages and sources. Google processes this data on our behalf, with Google signals and advertising features turned off. Typically expires up to two years after your last visit. Not set if you switch analytics off.
• Our own visit counter (no cookie, analytics), sends the page you are on, the referring site, how far you scroll, which parts of the page you click and where, whether you start a form, and how long the page stays open to our own server. No IP address or visitor identifier is stored. Stops if you switch analytics off.
• srj-attribution-v1 (session storage, analytics), remembers where your visit started (for example a search engine or a social media link) so that, if you contact us, we know which channel worked. Cleared when you close the tab.
• _clck / _clsk (Microsoft Clarity, performance), record clicks, scrolling and page interactions so we can see which parts of a page work and which confuse people. Text you type into forms is masked. Set only if you accept performance cookies; _clck typically expires after one year and _clsk after one day.

4. Managing your choices

Use the Cookie settings link at the bottom of any page to switch analytics or performance cookies on or off. If you switch something off, we stop it and delete its cookies from your browser. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to switch analytics off. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the Site may then behave differently.
